News and Updates
The Calgary Herald editorial board released its endorsement of Calgary's bid to host the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games!
Today, we launched #YesForCalgary, a campaign that encourages each and every one of us to share the reasons we are supporting bringing the Games to Calgary.
As Calgary is the only major city in Canada without a fieldhouse, it makes sense that Calgarians aren’t exactly sure what a fieldhouse is. (Edmonton has four, by the way!)
Calgary: not to boast, but we truly are the city of volunteers. In fact, it could be argued that the power of volunteers is our unfair advantage -- the tremendous men and women of our city committing their time to charities, non-profits, and community initiatives on a daily basis.
With our sincerest apologies to the good people of Edmonton, we're pleased to see that the Calgary 2026 Bid Corporation has clarified, for once and for all, that no events at all will be held in Edmonton.
Over the past few days, there have been so many stories with different numbers about Calgary 2026’s financial plan, it’s no wonder that many of us are confused. On top of that, there has been a lot of inaccurate information in the media and online, which has made it even more confusing.
Fortunately, help has arrived!
Calgary, come help make history!
Join some of the Olympics most storied athletes, join your neighbours, your friends, and your colleagues and help welcome the return of the Winter Olympics to Calgary and to Alberta by attending this event and voting yes on November 13.
After a tremendous amount of negotiating, the Federal and Provincial governments have reached an agreement that is a perfect fit for the City of Calgary and Calgary 2026.
